A cognitive assessment measures an individual’s general thinking and reasoning abilities and overall intellectual functioning. This can be particularly helpful for neurodivergent people because they often have a 'spiky' profile - where a person shows strengths in some areas and has notable challenges in others. The results are determined by assessing a combination of processes that are involved in almost every aspect of a person’s daily life. Cognitive abilities tend to remain stable throughout an individual’s life. If difficulties are present academically or with engaging effectively in work, a cognitive assessment is likely to offer helpful insights.
We provide the cognitive assessments below to help understand intellectual functioning and to provide you with a profile of yours's or your child's cognitive strengths and difficulties. This can be helpful to provide direction for schools, inputting into application Educational Health & Care Plan (EHCP), or adjustments for adults at work. It can also offer helpful evidence for reasonable adjustments for exams or appeals for 11+ results.
Cognitive assessments usually last 1-2 hours. Production of a comprehensive report and feedback phone call are included.
Further follow up with schools or employers are usually not included in the cost of assessment.
